Recently Forbes India announced list of top 100 Indian Celebrities for the year 2016. Here is the list of top 10 personalities with who topped the chart and remained at the desirable spots.
Salman Khan (270.33 crore)
Salman Khan tops the list this year with two of his major releases, Sultan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo which also made it to the 200 crore club. While Sultan made a whooping earning of Rs. 300.45 crore, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo also made 200 crores at the box office even though the movie received lukewarm response.
Shahrukh Khan (221.75 crore)
King Khan holds 2nd position this year as 2016 was a mixed year for him. He had his two releases this year- Dilwale and Fan. In Dilwale he paired up with his most popular co star Kajol, while in Fan he played double role. Both the Films failed to live up to the people’s expectation and Shahrukh also lost few endorsements owing to his not so remarkable box office success.
Virat Kohli (134.44 crore)
2016 has been a stellar year for this cricket poster boy for both his personal as well as team performances. He crossed over 1000 runs test runs in a calendar year which also includes his stunning 3 double centuries. Kohli is known for his skills that helped Team India to ride high in test rankings. He has 17 brand endorsements to his credit.
Akshay Kumar (203.03 crore)
The actor had 5 releases in year 2016. Out of which three films Airlift, Rustom and Housefull 3 saw success at Box Office. While the other two Brothers and Singh is Bling did decent at Box Office.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni-(122.48 crore)
His popularity rose to new heights with his stellar performances in the cricket ground and a biopic made on him titled as MS Dhoni: The Untold Story. It was one of the biggest hits of the year.
Deepika Padukone (69.75 crore)
Deepika managed to remain the topmost ranked female celebrity in the list. This year she did two movies Tamasha and Bajirao Mastani. Tamasha was an average hit but the later took her carrier to new heights. She will also be featuring in Hollywood flick xXX: Return of Xander Cage with Vin Diesel.
Sachin Tendulkar (58 crore)
He has still not lost his popularity. He is busy in campaigning social causes and fulfilling various endorsements commitments. He also adopted Donja Village of Maharashtra and continues to be people’s favorite.
Priyanka Chopra (78 crore)
She is one of the most globally renowned Indian actor. Her first English show Quantico further added to her accomplishments. Priyanka did two films Jai Gangajal and Bajirai Mastani that won her critical acclaim in 2016
Amitabh Bachchan (32.62 crore)
India’s biggest superstar slipped to his lowest ranks in five years. He had a very limited television presence and average doing films. However Pink helped him to regain his popularity
Hrithik Roshan (90.25 crore)
His much awaited film Mohenjo Daro failed terribly at box office. However Hrithik remains to be popular due to his line of clothing HRX and various endorsements.
